How to Get to Guanajuato
The easiest way to get to Guanajuato is by plane:
- El Bajío International Airport (BJX) is the preferred way to get to Guanajuato. People also call it the Guanajuato Airport or the Leon Airport, although it is actually located near the town of Silao, about 30 min. away from the workshop hotel. Regardless, the code of the airport is BJX.
- The International Airport of Mexico City (MEX) receives flights from most major cities around the world. There are two options to get from Mexico City to Guanajuato:
- Take a connecting flight to BJX
- A 5-hour bus ride from Mexico City to Guanajuato: Get from the airport to the North Bus Station ("Central de Autobuses del Norte") either through the subway or through a taxi cab. If you choose the subway, take the line 5 (yellow) train at "Terminal Aerea" (from Terminal 1) towards "Politecnico" and get off at "Autobuses del Norte" , the North Bus Station. Several buses go to Guanajuato every 1 or 2 hours for about MXP$300.00. Ask for the direct service ("Servicio Directo") to avoid stops in small towns along the way. Once at the Guanajuato bus station, take a taxi cab to the hotel for about MXP$50.00 (about USD$5.00)
WAFR 2008 is held at Camino Real Guanajuato Hotel in Guanajuato, México. Please DO NOT make any reservation directly at the hotel, instead go to our lodging page for instructions.
The hotel is located at the San Francisco Javier Hacienda built in the 17th century to process ore. After being remodeled it is now a luxury hotel with many amenities. It is five minutes away from the downtown where most attractions are.
